One of the leading voices in gay Chicano fiction and LGBT literature--John Rechy--is ready to release his new book "About My Life and the Kept Woman," a memoir about Rechy's discovery of his racial and sexual identity.
I hope the book will be better than his prior work, which has not been that impressive. Although, "City of Night," his debut novel, continues a classic in the world of letters. However, much of his work thereafter has not impressed (with the exception of "Numbers").
And here I was thinking that Rechy was against memory and memoirs because of his comments in Charles Casillo's biography "Outlaw: John Rechy," where he expressed his refusal to write a memoir. Hmmmmm?????? Prove me wrong, John!
Hasta la proxima...
